Definitions
Specialized markets, industries and fields sometimes have a language of their own filled with acronyms and otherwise unknown terms. This can be true within the arena of corporate social responsibility. While not an exhaustive list, below Entrepreneurs' Foundation of SVCF offers some of the terms and expressions that may be found elsewhere on this site.
Location where employees live and work. This may only refer to the local community, or can refer to a national or global community.
Building awareness and active engagement at all levels of the organization in social issues that impact quality of life.
Considering the interests of society by taking responsibility for the impact of a corporation's activities on customers, employees, shareholders, communities and the environment in all aspects of its operations.
The set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution or organization.
The Entrepreneurs' Foundation of SVCF Community Community is made up of companies, employees, individual practitioners, venture capitalists and non profits all interested in being active corporate citizens. (Non-Governmental Organization or Community-Benefit Organization)
An incorporated organization (recognized as a tax-exempt organization by the IRS) which exists for educational or charitable reasons, and from which its shareholders or trustees do not benefit financially.
Includes services that are delivered without compensation to individuals and organizations for the public common good.
Skills-based Volunteerism is similar to volunteerism in that the individual gives time energy and talent to an organization and does not receive any compensation. The major difference between skills-based volunteerism and volunteerism is that employees leverage a specific professional talent, expertise or knowledge to further an organization's mission and organizational capacity.
This refers to the programs Entrepreneurs' Foundation of SVCF provides companies and their employees. The Spectrum consists of six components: Corporate Giving, Employee Giving, Employee Volunteerism, Corporate Infrastructure, Sustainable Business Practices and Marketing Communications. Companies engage in some or all pieces of the spectrum depending on what is appropriate for the company and their corporate programs.

The strategy that underpins a company's mission and the choices made each day by the executives and employees as they engage with society.
Cash donations of any kind by corporations or employees.
